These were the members of the Newburg Fire Department in 1888, shortly after the department was granted its charter. This is the Newburg Fire Station built in 1890. The land cost was $75.00 and building cost $300.00 for a total of $375.00. The bell and bell tower were added in 1891 with no cost given. The first building to store the fire equipment was a shed built on property rented from Joseph Reichl for $ 35.00. The shed was built by department members, with donated lumber.

This photo from 1963 shows the NFD’s first Rescue truck, now known as an ambulance. It was purchased in September of 1958 for $250.00 plus another $55.00 for a new paint job. This unit served the department from 1958 to the spring of 1976 Typical cost of a brand new ambulance in 2005 is about $110,000.
